Hey Reader,
So much has happened this month, and I don't want you to miss out.
As we move from summer to fall, it's a great time to reset your goals, refresh your routines, and prioritise your well-being. I like to refer to the last four months of the year as 'the remember' months. It's a time to revisit crucial health tips, self-development strategies, and the trends from the year.
1. Strengthen Your Immune System for Fall
An elderly patient I attended to said she came in for a complete body MOT (check-up). I laughed but realised it was already nine months into the year. So she is right; we should all go for a check-up with the doctor to be sure all is well. Whether going for a check-up or preparing your system for the changing season, it's a call to action. With the cooler weather tip-toeing in on the horizon, it's essential to start boosting your immune system to stay healthy throughout the season.
What can you consider doing to help you boost your immune system?
Vitamin C and Zinc: Incorporate foods rich in Vitamin C (like citrus fruits, strawberries, and bell peppers) and Zinc (nuts, seeds, and legumes) into your diet. These nutrients are crucial for maintaining a robust immune system. I am not a fan of supplements, especially when you have enough time to gain them organically.
Stay Hydrated: Even though it's more relaxed, your body needs adequate hydration. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day to help flush out toxins and keep your system functioning optimally.
Get Enough Sleep: Quality sleep is vital for immune function. Aim for 7-9 hours per night and establish a bedtime routine that helps you unwind.
2. Self-Development Focus
In my last email, I mentioned starting a YouTube channel. I'll discuss self-development topics such as setting and achieving new goals there. It's timely because just like you can't put new wine in an old wineskin, we must match self-development with health education to make a lasting impact.
It's still early enough, as I consider the remaining four months a mini-New Year; whatever your goal is, it's a great time to reassess and revisit it with new understanding and energy. Here's how you can set and achieve your objectives:
The SMART Goals formula still works. Ensure your goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This framework increases the likelihood of success.
Consider a Daily Habit: Break down your goals into daily habits. Small, consistent actions lead to significant results over time.
Reflect and Adjust: Take weekly time to reflect on your progress and adjust as needed. Flexibility is critical to staying on track.
3. Tech Talk: The Rise of AI-Powered Health Apps
What have you heard about AI recently?
Reader, you must have noticed that the social media is full of praises for AI, like how you can write a book quickly and create faceless YouTube videos to become rich overnight. These are all exciting topics, but one thing stood out: AI can help us live a healthy life; you only have to download simple apps. The gist's most exciting part is that it offers personalised insights and guidance to help you live your best life. Here are a few trending AI-powered apps you might find helpful:
MyFitnessPal: Now with AI-driven meal suggestions based on your dietary preferences and health goals.
Fitbod: This app uses AI to create personalised workout plans that adapt as you progress, ensuring you're constantly challenged and improving.
HealthTap: An AI-powered virtual doctor that instantly answers health questions, connects you to doctors and helps manage your health records.
Regardless of which you are using, remember that consistency is a form of energy discussed in the self-development triangle.
"Success doesn't come from what you do occasionally; it comes from what you do consistently."
- Marie Forleo.
Whether sticking to your workout routine, practising mindfulness or working towards your goals, your small daily actions will add significant changes over time.
So, there is still enough time to catch up on your wellness goals. It's a perfect time for change, not just in the weather but also in our lives. Go through this transition being open to new opportunities, setting fresh goals, and caring for your mind and body. Here's to a healthy, productive, and fulfilling ember month!
